International Students Award Ceremony Presentation

Celebrating Academic Excellence and Global Leadership at UIC

On Wednesday, April 16th, the Office of Global Engagement (OGE) hosted its 2025 International Students Award Ceremony, recognizing the exceptional research, innovation, and impact-driven work of UIC’s international student community. Chancellor Marie Lynn Miranda and Ambassador Reyna Torres joined the celebration which brought together students, faculty, staff, Chicago consular corps representatives and families to celebrate the achievements of international scholars who are making meaningful contributions across their respective disciplines.

This year’s recipients of the Laurette Kirstein Scholarship, Chicago Consular Corps Professional Development Grant, and International Student Ambassador Service Award were acknowledged for their innovative, inspiring, and conceptual research and work, reflecting the strength and diversity of UIC’s global academic community. The twenty-seven recipients represent eight of UIC’s fourteen academic colleges as well as a wide diversity of countries.

The ceremony served not only as a moment of recognition, but also as a reminder of the important role international students play in shaping the academic and cultural fabric of UIC. From groundbreaking research in science and technology to community-focused projects and interdisciplinary exploration, each awardee exemplified global citizenship and academic excellence.

OGE is proud to support and celebrate international students as they continue to excel, lead, and inspire both on campus and beyond.
