Internationalization Achievements

The UIC Internationalization Comprehensive Plan (2023-2028) is built on three strategies with measurable goals that provide a path to guide UIC as it increases its global engagement.

  1. Prepare Graduates to Tackle 21st Century Global Challenges by Advancing Students’ Global Learning Competencies
  2. Create a Globally Connected and Supportive Campus
  3. Establish UIC as a Hub for Globally Relevant Research, Scholarship, Creative Activity, and Innovation

  • 1.40 % Increase in UIC undergrad annual participation in study abroad.

  • $ 10,000 Raised for student study and research abroad scholarships.

  • 50 % Increase in research, field placement, internship, or service programs.

Strategy B Achievements Heading link

  • 17 % international student enrollment (increased from 12.6%).

  • $ 20,000 in international student scholarships & awards offered annually.

  • Launched international student satisfaction and sense of belonging survey & made recommendations to leadership that address deficiencies.

  • Increased the number of strategic international partners

  • Identified successful UIC international scholars to be named & published as “UIC’s Outstanding International Scholars”

This plan provides a strong foundation to guide UIC as it increases its global engagement. These strategies provide a clear and measurable path toward progress which will prove an unwavering source of motivation and guidance in the coming years.
