About
Dr. Hammerschmidt became the Associate Vice Provost for Global Engagement as well as Executive Director of the Office of International Services on April 1, 2017. He has served as the Executive Director of the Office of International Services since 2003. As OIS Executive Director, Dr. Hammerschmidt and his staff provide immigration-related services to over 6,000 international students, faculty, and staff at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Illinois Peoria and Rockford medical campuses.
Dr. Hammerschmidt is also an active member of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, including service as a past chair of the NAFSA International Education Leadership Knowledge Community and as a member of the NAFSA Committee on Immigration Policy and Practice.
