The UIC Tutorium has been named the recipient of the 4th Annual UIC United Faculty (UF) John Shuler Award for Shared Governance and Academic Freedom.

UICUF’s John Shuler Award for Shared Governance and Academic Freedom is an annual award to a department or college that demonstrates its commitment, through action, to truly democratic shared governance and academic freedom. This award is named for the late John Shuler, UIC Librarian and UF Treasurer, who was active at UIC and in the union until his death in 2016.

Jason Romano, Tutorium Director, states, “We take great pride in accepting this award. It reflects the values every member of our department strives for as a team: excellence, collaboration, and integrity. We could not have achieved this award without the union representative for our department, Kristine May. Thank you, Kris!”
